Having been
involved in the rubber stamp industry since 1949 many special requests
for custom made rubber stamps have been made.
The timber
industry for instance could not use the conventional depth of the office
stamp as the stamping area was larger and often irregular. So a deeper
moulded or etched stamp was needed. The matrices for these had to be
engraved deeper than normal.
Other
marking requirements was that the figures needed to be changed often so
a ribbed letter set was produced, also deeper than normal. These stamps
are used to mark batch numbers etc on cartons, manufactured items such
as ammunition and large car body parts.
With the
improvement in laser technology it is now possible to produce these stamps quicker and
also with more detailed designs easily up to virtually any depth
required
Even today
with all the modern electronic gadgets to mark items, the rubber stamp
is still the cheapest and more portable way of marking bulky items.
